this is... a photo by victoria part one

My super talented friend Victoria took this photo of her sister in London somewhere.
She really must get a job as a professional photographer.
I am going to post a few more lovelies by her over the next fews days/weeks.

I keep hitting 'play again', i just cant get enough :)

toadstool madness on mt victoria

This is my weekend...
After months of planning some hens night madness (with 'too funny' glasses) occurred on Saturday, followed by a farewell debrief (a.k.a picnic) on Mt Victoria on sunday - have you been there? its toadstool heaven! Check it out.

this is...my weekly exercise fun!

swing dancing madness = fun, fun, fun!

this is...my favourite thing from nature

Dramatic lighting & colour. It never fails to amaze me.
These are photos from my last trip to Queenstown. The sun hits its target while everything else remains in monotone.

this is...a favourite recipe I would like to share

Chicken & Almond Stir-fry

300g chicken breasts
80g green beans
1/4 cup oil
2/3 cup blanched almonds
1 teaspoon green curry paste
2 tablespoons fish sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 small red chilli, finely chopped
1 tablespoon manjo mirin
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil (personally, I don't use basil, I double up on the coriander instead.)

1. Thinly slice chicken. Cut beans into 2cm lengths.

2. Heat oil in wok, add almonds, stir fry until lightly browned. Remove almonds from wok; reserve.

3. Reheat remaining oil in wok, add chicken, stir fry 1 minute. Add beans, curry paste, sauces, chilli, manjo mirin and almonds.
Stirfry until chicken is just tender; stir in coriander and basil.

This recipe is super quick & tasty. Serve with rice.
Yum!

this is...my favourite film(s)

This is a toughy...being a regular movie goer my list of 'seen it's' & favourites is MASSIVE!
I have however just come back from the movies & have decided that young@heart is my new favourite film - its funny, inspiring & a bit of a tear jerker.
Im not sure how to add youtube videos to my blog (can anyone tell me how?) so you'll have to click here to check out the trailer.
Im definitely recommending young@heart to everyone I see, especially those with a soft spot for oldies :)

this is...my current reading material

Described as a 'bold & punchy tale' Animals People are the words of a 19 year old Indian boy recorded on a series of tapes & translate from Hindi to English. Shortlisted for the 2007 Man Booker prize, it is an honest, rude & often humorous story of a disabled, yet cunning boy that is well worth a read.

Other books on my pile, & those that Im almost done with are:
The Elephant & the Twig
The Great Gatsby
and The Thirteenth Tale

this is...my favourite fabric shop

super reflective glass - sorry!!

Madder & Rouge is a wonderful source of inspiration, quirkiness, colour & fun. Perhaps not  your 'conventional' fabric shop, its french stripe & Robert le Heros fabrics are to-die-for but come with a well out of my reach price tag, damn it!

im playing 'this is...'

"This is..." has been around for a while, & Ive been meaning to join in for, well, forever. So, ive finally decided that now is the time to get my A into G & participate.
step 1 - post logo - check! (see right)
step 2 - find out this weeks theme here - check!
step 3 - post a photo of that theme on sunday. Right! I should be able to do that!!

(hmmm... I think the theme 'this is...your fav fabric/craft shop' is a week old, but they havent updated a new one yet so it will have to do)
