I helped myself to a few of these babies at the opening of Collected by LeeAnn Yare at BLOC last night. Delicious!

baked treats
Do you know what I realized the other day? I don't own a baking book. I don't even have the good old kiwi classic - The Edmonds cookbook.
I think I should order this Little and Friday recipe book* to remedy that.
* You can pre-order your copy at Little & Friday cafes.

You can make your own, and it looks kinda easy.
Must try one day. Have a happy Easter break.

I have a question... Does anyone face the problem of what to eat for lunch?
When it comes to this particular meal I am continually stuck. Im sick of cheese & tomato, or avocado & tomato, or ham, cheese & tomato. I want something new!
I walk around the supermarket & have no probs buy ingredients for dinner, but get home & realise ive completely forgotten to sort out lunch...
When it comes to lunch, I want something that is either quick & easy to prepare the night before, or while at work with limited kitchen supplies.
I want sandwich ideas, salad ideas & more.
What do you eat for lunch? What do your partners, friends & work mates eat for lunch? And I dont mean last nights leftovers!! I want to see if I can compile a group of recipes to conquer my daily lunch time battle of 'what should I eat?"
The final outcome would be to print a lunch recipe book, or something along these lines.
If you're a regular visitor to my blog, or brand new (hello!) then please, help me out & post some lunch suggestions... Im getting hungry!

under the sea

You know those moments when food looks too good to eat? Well, this was one of them.
Arent these cupcakes adorable?
My flatmate had these especially made for her cocktail birthday the other day. They tasted as good as they look, but boy was it hard not to save one to keep.
in the kitchen
I have just spent the last two hours in the kitchen cooking - watch out Jamie!! I feel like a true kitchen bitch! :)
I am hoping that the fruits of my labour - Moroccan Lentil Soup and Bacon, Onion & Parsley Tartelette - will be worth it. It definitely smells yummy!!

I was going to post both recipes for you, but they are quite long. So instead, the links are as follows -
The Bacon Onion & Parsley Tartelette recipe can be found here & here
The Moroccan Lentil Soup is by NZ chef Annabel Langbein & can be found here

my most random post ever...

Do you remember the plans you had years ago that got brushed under the carpet as you grew up?
Well, I remembered one of mine today - to open a pie shop in Holland. Yum! I know the dutch would dig it :)
What are your forgotten plans & dreams?

in the kitchen with

I love food & adore the smell of baking - Im sure Im not alone! Unfortunately I hardly ever find the time to do it - my mixer has been sitting in the cupboard gathering dust since I got it (sorry mum!) I was checking out the weekly 'in the kitchen with...' over at design sponge & fell in love with the illustrated photographs of the baking process. Im inspired. Might be time to dust of the mixer...

that shaky isle

How cool is the logo for the Shaky Isles cafe that has not long been open in Kingsland?! I love the swirly whirly font - its super fun & totally portrays the little quirks special to the cafe. They make pretty good (but filling) hot chocolates - with a Whittakers Sante bar melting into it - & have an eclectic array of mix & match cups, saucers & teaspoons. If you like cafes that are a little bit different, & fun, then this place is totally cool. - I didn't eat anything so can't comment on the food p.s, but what I saw looked just fine!
