There is nothing better than a limited edition t-shirt collaboration by your favourite illustrator, Anke Weckmann, & magazine, Frankie.
There are only 100 available, so if you want one, you better get your skates on!

pretty things by a pretty name

I would expect pretty things from someone with the name Megan Isabella, & happily im not disappointed.
'Megan loves drawing the faces around her & takes inspiration from her own experiences, cute animals & favorite pastimes... Megan likes to focus on the small, quiet moments- a flicker of a smile across the face or a hint of curiosity in their eyes. For Megan illustration is about getting down on paper what she can see inside her head.'

too much choice

I really, really want an ashley g, but its just so hard to choose...
I do this every time. I browse her etsy site & ear mark so many prints that I end up not being able to decide, get frustrated & give up!
anyone else have the same problem?!

a sprinkle of sugar & mischief

Do you ever wish you could wrap your arms around the neck of a whale & go for a ride? I imagine it would be like living the life of a mermaid.
Artist Eveline Tarunadjaja from Melbourne may not actually ride whales but, amongst other things, she draws people partaking in the wonderful activity!
Eveline Tarunadjaja was born & raised in Indonesia among the high rise shopping malls & spicy food. She moved to Melbourne Australia almost 10 years ago & found her home in good coffee shops around the city to draw sugary & mischievous imagery inspired by her love for stories, Asian family, 60's Japanese girl group and giraffes with the amount of hairy details that would break her neck someday.

cork on the ocean

I have just been looking at the new clever bastards (over at clever bastards) & saw the Cork on the Ocean book by Mark & Rowan Sommerset - I love this book!! The story & illustrations are totally cool.
I do have one question though... can I buy this book, or at 26 am I too old??!!
'Somewhere between the blue and the green,
Further than far can be,
A little brown cork was riding the wind,
Cork on the Ocean follows the remarkable adventures of a little cork as it surfs the high seas. After riding a sea horse, evading a shark & befriending an exhausted butterfly, Cork meets a wise old whale who shares the secret of staying afloat.'
Bobbing along on the sea.

weird & wonderful things

Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear?
A 'kind of' friend (- what do you call the people you would talk to if you passed them on the street but you wouldn't call for a chat, or arrange to meet for a coffee?...) thrust a magazine (cant remember the name sorry) into my hands the other day & told me to have a look. I was flicking through & caught a glimpse of Australian "drawer" Courtney Brims work. Her mainly pencil illustrations, inspired by the love of nonsense & absurdity, fairytales & daydreams, are so insanely detailed they drive me crazy. Good crazy. Mixed with a touch of jealousy :)

is that a rat on my head?

I was busy doing two things at once (like a typical girl) and happened across this illustration/exhibition invite - I cant remember where though! Its a pity the show, by Kareena Zerefos, is in Sydney because judging by this invite I could almost safely say it will have some work well worth checking out.
etsy

etsy is such a treasure trove of talented people & their goodies. It gives you access to affordable art & craft pieces from all over the world. My favourite find so far has been Berkley Illustration, based in Portland USA, who I first came across via design sponge. I have bought three animal prints (above) from this etsy store already, & have had to force myself into deciding that I REALLY don't need anymore...
I will continue to post other great finds from australasia & the rest of the world as I come across them.
