slinky

Its a slinky, but its not. How cool is this John Quan magazine rack? I would have trouble not pushing this down a flight of stairs, minus magazines of course.

I enjoy experimenting with materials & processes, as well as extending people's notions of what a material is capable of. With this peice, I have utilised the flexibility of plywood to create a 'slinky' spring. 

Whats it used for? The first thing that comes to mind is an extendable magazine rack. But in truth, I just wanted to pay haomage to a favourite childhood toy.
