the poi room

i walk past this shop everytime i head to the rialto cinemas & always make a mental note to pop in. as off yet i havent but hopefully, in writing this post, i will get my A into G & get down there! in the meantime this shop is described as " a ‘room’ which has been created where New Zealand artworks are shown in their splendor. It is a gathering of beautiful, raw & interesting objects & visual ‘food’ from a magnificent sprinkling of artists living in this vibrant country"

if you have time, head on down & take a look.

because i can

im getting a little bit excited, and just feel like posting a whole lots of pictures that i like & overloading this post with imagery. im having to contain myself and carefully select what i regard as some of my favourite things. however maybe just this once i will post some things purely because i want too (& because i can!) & not worry about writing a little thought/comment for each one. these images are things i like for no reason other than being visually exciting in content, colour or nature...

puku design

puku = tummy - in my option a pretty perfect name for an original New Zealand clothing company that prides itself in providing top quality clothing for babies & toddlers.
Puku design is owned, designed and run by Emma Bossley & Miranda Thornton. Their philosophy is to "produce the best in New Zealand designed & made streetwear clothing for kids using top quality New Zealand made fabrics" check out their range at www.pukudesign.co.nz

d_luxe jewellery

d_luxe is the work of two wellington designers - megan oliver & karie higgins. they pride themselves on making jewellery that looks good on whatever you choose to wear - be it your old black cardigan or new designer dress. I first stumbled across a piece from the 'type_a' collection when a colleague wore one to work. after a quick google search i found their website and then realised i had come across their work before - around the necks of various friends.

fun!

i see this picture and just think fun! i love the collection of odd bits & pieces that are all so different yet compliment each other perfectly

little birdie...

how cute is this little recycled paper bird? from cotton bird designs on http://www.etsy.com/

a burst of pink

i see a common trend occuring in my posts - monotone colour schemes, so here is a burst of colour!

i really like the way this picture (painting? print?) 'pops' out of the photo. i wish i had the wall space for something like this...maybe one day :)

go the mo

i have a bit of a thing for portraits...i just cant seem to keep away from them. i think it stems from my 7th form art history days spent studying the classics...

check out the matching moustache wallpaper. i wish i could remember who the artist is (note to self - keep track of who made what!)

dont let the bed bugs bite

i went to Eon Design Centre in auckland for a research trip & stumbled across the esther diamond bedlinen range. if i had a spare $200 or so i would definitely have indulged. i love it!

Eon believes that the objects around you, should speak about who you are. Eon was founded and developed by Angela Roper, a talented nz designer, in 1999 to expose the talent and creativity displayed by New Zealand designers http://www.eon.co.nz/

word game

I bought my jellybones 'scrabble' necklace early last year, and love it although i must confess i definitely dont wear it enough. these necklaces are available from http://www.toggle.co.nz/ and are only $16.50. based in auckland jellybones is Alida van Klink and Charles Cumming. they are inspired by all things cute, silly and Lo-fi. they like cats, woodland creatures, secret island coves and taking naps.

design house

continuing on the theme is my favourite design house cushion - great design, great fabric and great colour! a popular swedish fabric design of the 1950's this design house art cushion is part of a colourful collection of 5

love, love, love...

this is me...& the things ive collected past & present

A collection, an object of affection, stuff that I just want to look at....things that inspire me, arouse curiosity etc etc or; in easy words...things that i like, things that i love and, hopefully, nothing that i loathe!
