The things I like about seed gallery is their quick turn around of shows. It seems that almost every time I walk past there is some new, & usually interesting, artist in the window. This time round, that artist is Marisia Dudek, whose show 'the upside to undergrowth' runs from the 2nd - 20th July.

All pieces in the show are oil on board, a favourite surface of mine. The paintings depict forest landscapes in rich, & at times seemingly unrealistic, colours. The landscapes are turned upside down & twisted around, showing unnatural angles that just look right. These paintings are a captivating, original play on a usually straightforward subject matter.
